"A simple idea that works exceedingly well, Planet Woman is a talented quintent of female musicians from New Zealand and the UK who have successfully melded Oceanic culture with Celtic folk. A Polynesian ukulele with Scottish fiddle? Why not? Maori flutes on an Irish ballad? It sounds terrific. The vocal harmonies are superb throughout, no matter whether the Pacific or Celtic melodies are to the fore. When the two cultures combine on the Irish/Maori "Blessing"  and the gorgeous "Hold Fast", you have to wonder why someone hasn't tried this vibrant mix before."

"This is a stunning global collaboration - five gifted women from Ireland, Scotland, Aotearoa and Rotuma melding in a sublimely spiritual union, weaving tradtional soundscapes with contemporary composition.  I was hooked from the first bar - a funky little ukulele introducing the traditional Irish blessing, then the swell of voice, violin and bouzouki, and the clever blending of Maori and English - the tone was set and never wavered.  .'Reeling in the Pacific' is strong, inspirational, unique and gorgeous."

“This album challenges the listener to set aside their preconceived ideas about musical prejudices and cultural differences. In a world where different cultures and languages are too often seen as a threat, Planet Woman proves that the similarities and sharing of cultures are more likely to bring about global harmony.”

“If you never thought that ukulele and fiddle could share the same stage, check out "A Blessing" or "Helava Rotuma. Together they locate common grooves between Polynesian and Celtic music…a marvel…embued with edge and attitude."

"l was very moved when I saw you all playing together. It made me, as a singer, want to join in. What a small place the earth is on a stage in Australia to see women from Ireland, Scotland, New Zealand and The Pacific Islands making music, wonderful music together"
